Starts on Sunday 9 March , 2014 the free guided tour “I KNOW and RESPECT my city: a trip to History, the Shockwaves, Memories and Colors of the city of Chania”, for the third consecutive year – the Municipality of Chania in collaboration with scientific and professional bodies of culture and tourism.
“The response of the world to the program in recent years was impressive, since these guided tours, which take place every Sunday until the end of May, enable all of us to get to know our city, history and monuments better “, the Mayor of Chania, Manolis Skoulakis, pointed out in a press conference, which was given today, Tuesday 4/3/2014, at the Press Room of the Town Hall of Chania by the organizers of the program.
In fact, Mr. Skoulakis appealed to all the citizens to participate in the tour program, “passing creatively their Sundays and knowing the history of their place”, as he himself said.
“The tours will be held every Sunday until the end of May 2014, with the start of each tour at 11.00. Participation in the program is free for all, with a prerequisite but timely entry to guarantee the quality of the guided tour “said the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Chania, Maria Kokkinaki.
Within the framework of the program, there will be three guided tours of the Chania guides, which will cover the western and eastern side of the Old City, as well as the Archaeological Museum of Chania. There will be two tour guides in these guided tours, as the spokesman, Eleftheria Manousou, said during the press conference.
Guided tours will take place, among others, at the Lighthouse of Chania, at the Permanent Exhibition of Ancient and Traditional Naval Architecture – Minoan Ship, and at the Maritime Museum of Crete by the President of the Maritime Museum of Crete, Manolis Petrakis, who stressed during the interview that tours promotes the culture and the history of the place.
