In the afternoon of Sunday, November 10th, we had the honor and the pleasure of being the Maritime Museum of Crete to welcome representatives of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to our premises. The Head of the Academic Delegates was the President of the School, Mr. Xie Fuzhan, who represented, and various departments of the School such as the Director General of the Institute of European Studies and the Director General of the Institute of Archeology.
During the visit, the President of the Maritime Museum of Crete Commodore (Eng) HN ret. Mr. Emmanuel Petrakis. During the walk around the Museum we were given the opportunity to have a very interesting discussion between the President and Mr. Fuzhan with historical and cultural content.
Taking into consideration that the main aim of the Maritime Museum of Crete is to promote and rescue the Nautical Tradition and History of our country, the opportunity was given to promote both our Museum and our City abroad, in the wake of the visit of its academics Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
At the end of the tour and interesting discussion, the President of the Chinese Academy offered a ceremonial shield to our Museum and to the rest of the Academicians various souvenirs of our Museum in memory of his visit.
