On Monday, November 15, 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Maritime Museum of Crete and the Hellenic Ιnstitute of Maritime History (H.Ι.M.Η). in Piraeus, at the exceptional premises of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. The memorandum was signed by the Chairman of H.Ι.M.Η Mr. Konstantinos Mazarakis – Ainian and the Chairman of the Maritime Mouseum of Crete Mr. Emmanuel Petrakis. The signing of the memorandum emphasizes the extroversion of our Museum and the harmonious cooperation between Maritime Tradition vectors for the better promotion and preservation of the Maritime Heritage and the History of our place.
The Maritime Museum of Crete was attended by Deputy General Secretary Mrs. Eleftheria Douka, the Cashier Mr. Nikolaos Binakis, and the members Mr. Sifis Markakis, and Mr. George Samartzis. On behalf of H.Ι.M.Η, the Vice Chairman Mr. Leonidas Tsiantoulas, the General Secretary Mr. Aristidis Kathreptas, the Cashier Mr. Dimitrios Balopoulos, and the members Mrs. Christy E. Ioannidou and Mr. George Maragoudakis.
The signing of a memorandum of cooperation with a vector for the preservation and promotion of Maritime History and Tradition such as the Hellenic Institute of Maritime History is a particularly important parameter for the implementation of the main objectives of our Museum. This cooperation is estimated to bring significant results of intense cultural interest.
The Hellenic Ιnstitute of Maritime History (H.Ι.M.Η) is a non-profit association. The purpose of the Institute is to encourage and promote research and study on theories related to maritime history and tradition, the promotion and dissemination of the above historical knowledge as well as the rescue of relevant items and the publication of books on maritime history.
