On Thursday, July 13, 2023, as part of our long-standing relationships, we had the honor and pleasure of welcoming members of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand to the premises of the Maritime Museum of Crete. The delegation consisted, among others, of the President of the Federation Mr. Antonis Tsourdalakis and children of the third generation of Cretans in Australia. An extensive tour of the premises took place with the children showing particular interest in the history and culture of their “distant” homeland. During the tour, which took place in a particularly warm climate, the historical ties between Greece, Australia and New Zealand about the events of the Battle of Crete during World War II were discussed, among other things, as well as the value and role of the expatriate Hellenism. At the end of the tour, the ceremonial exchange of gifts took place.
