The Maritime Museum of Crete on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 19:00 at the “Mikis Theodorakis” Theater in the Venetian Port of Chania presented the Calendar of the Port Authority of Chania of the first Harbor Master Georgios Kourokoutis HN entitled “Calendar of the prevailing winds and events in the area of the port authority of Chania from January 1, 1899 to the end of December 1914”. In the Calendar, a daily record is kept from 1899 to 1914 with information on important historical events throughout the time spectrum of the Cretan State (1898 -1913), as well as for the prevailing weather conditions. Dr. of History Maria Efthymiou, Emeritus Professor of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, dr. of History Manos Perakis and Historian-Archivist Konstantina Adamopoulou, Director of the Historical Archives of the Hydra Museum spoke about the Calendar.
Co-organization with the Region of Crete – Regional Unit of Chania and Municipality of Chania.
The event will be coordinated by Mr. Sifis Markakis, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Maritime Museum of Crete.
