The Maritime Museum of Crete is pleased to announce its participation in the SandMap: Innovative System of Interactive Education and Cultivation of Spatial Learning program, of the Technical University of Crete together with Theodoropoulos School, and to invite you to its presentation evening on Friday, July 14 2023 at 19:30 at Neorio Moro (Permanent Exhibition of Ancient and Traditional Shipbuilding of the Maritime Museum of Crete).
The SandMap program, which is an action of national scope, within the framework of the program “RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE SECOND CYCLE”, “COMPETITIVENESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP & INNOVATION” (Special Management Service of the Business Program Competitiveness Entrepreneurship and Innovation, EYD EPANEK, Special Management Service and Implementation of Actions in the fields of Research, Technological Development and Innovation, EYDE ETAK) 2014-2020 is an interactive platform for education and information transmission with augmented reality technologies and works with the existence of a sand pit, the use of a computer and a projector. Users have the ability to shape the sand relief by interacting with the 3D information of the respective study object. At the Maritime Museum of Crete, with the use of SandMap, the possibility of a three-dimensional time tour of the development of the Venetian Port of Chania, as well as important Maritime Events from the Museum’s Educational Programs is offered, among other things.
